GOOD NEWS - Ottawa Muslim Cemetery (OMC) Officially Opened!

Ottawa, January 6, 2013

Dear All Members of OBMFO & Bangladeshi Community

As-salamu Alaykum,

We are pleased to inform you that the Ottawa Muslim Cemetery (OMC) has officially opened its door on January 4, 2013 to all Muslims living in Ottawa. As you all know, OBMFO were working closely with OMC to make this dream come true to have a separate Muslim Cemetery for all of us. As a Bangladeshi Community, we are proud to inform you that the OBMFO is the single largest contributor to this Project. OBMFO has an agreement with OMC to purchase its 200 plots over the three year period. Last two years OBMFO has paid $90,400 to OMC to secure 80 plots and required another $135,600 to pay for the rest.  OBMFO currently has approximately $30,000 in the bank and require additional $105,600 more to secure the rest of the plots for our community.

In this regards, our special thanks to our members and Bangladeshi Community those who have contributed to OBMFO to help purchase the plots.  Those who did not have chance to purchase or donate and were waiting for OMC to open, now this is the time for you to come forward, contribute and take part of the project to help OBMFO / OMC to complete this great project. With your generous contribution and help we will all be together, stay beside with you and your family in that most critical time people always face.

I am also attaching herewith the official letter from OMC President Br. Abu Nazir regarding the payment acknowledgement of 80 plots and a Thank You Letter to OBMFO and Bangladeshi Community for our huge contribution to OMC.  Please see below.

OBMFO Released It's Second Annual Fundraising Dinner Tickets

Bayshore, March 16, 2012

The Ottawa Bangladesh Muslim Funeral and Social Welfare Organization (OBMFO) is going to organize its second annual fundraising dinner which will be held on Sunday, May 27, 2012 at St. Anthony Banquet Hall - 523 Saint Anthony Street, Ottawa, Ontario (MAP). As you know, last year OBMFO had signed an agreement to purchase 200 Kobor Plots from Ottawa Muslim Cemetery (OMC) for all Ottawa-Bangladeshi Muslims. The total cost of the plots is $226,000.00. Alhamdulillah with your support OBMFO has already paid $45,200.00 for 40 plots and now required to pay the rest of the money. Our goal is to raise at least $150K during this fundraising dinner which will help OBMFO to pay the rest of the amount to OMC. OBMFO is therefore requesting all Bangladeshi Muslims living in Ottawa and adjacent cities to purchase the Fundraising Dinner Tickets for this great project and become the contributors for your own needs during your crucial time.

The Prophet (SAW) said: An intelligent person is one who is constantly thinking about and preparing for death (Tirmidhi)

This fundraising will not only help OBMFO to pay-off the remaining 160 plots but will also help Ottawa Muslim Cemetery (OMC) to start its operation from this June 2012. OMC is currently looking for nearly $300K to go for its operation.

Few Words About The Newly Founded Youth Organization

Ottawa, February 24, 2012

Dear Brothers and Sisters,

Living in greater Ottawa-Carleton area, Assalamu-alaikum. As the future creates uncertainties with every turning day, we must prepare ourselves and our community for what is to come. The OBMFO has decided to aid in those preparations for our future by launching the OBMFO Youth in order to create a community that is sustainable through the future, its youth.

The youth arm of the OBMFO will be in charge of raising awareness, funds, and support for the OBMFO through organized youth activities that will be directed under the OBMFO and its initiatives. The main objectives of the youth arm are to increase membership and active involvement of the Muslim youth of Ottawa in order to aid the OBMFO and create a long lasting transfer of knowledge and experience. Through your support, either by making donation, becoming a member, or helping through volunteer work, Inshallah, we will be able to fulfill our commitment to the community. For further details, please contact the people listed at the bottom.

In the Holy Quran, Allah SWT instructed us:

And help one another in righteousness and piety; but help not one another in sin and transgression. And fear Allah ;( Al Quran 5:2)

Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) said, one who attends the Namaz-e-Jananza for a deceased will earn rewards equal to Mount Ohud and one who participates in the burial of the deceased will also be rewarded similarly.

Dear Brothers and Sisters, as we have been instructed by Allah SWT and His prophet (PBUH), we urge you all to come forward to help us in this endeavor and fulfill your religious and social obligations by extending your support and help to those who need it most. Inshallah, if we can help a family in distress, Allah almighty will grant us all the goodness in this life and hereafter.

May Allah SWT grant us the ability to do all the good deeds and to contribute to the welfare of our society.

Sincerely,

Jamil Bhuya
